ARTIST STATEMENT SEEING THE EXTRAORINARY IN THE ORDINARY
I am a photo artist of the earth, of ordinary natural and man-made things with a view to their beauty and design. My work is infused with the joy of color and form and a feeling of the sacred in nature. Originally an abstract painter, I have always had a love of photography and have turned full-time to this expression of art.
A wanderer at heart, now that I’m retired, my passion is exploring and looking and seeing and appreciating and wondering and browsing and recording it all with my camera. And then after choosing those pictures that touch me, I edit them with the goal of sharing my deep experience with others, hoping to touch their souls too….
EDUCATION
My father and grandfather were avid photographers and I was brought up working in the family darkroom. One of my prize possessions is my grandfather’s 1938 Leica Camera. Attending art and photography classes in college and after, I learn technical and artistic skills as I need them.
